We are seeking to be like Christ

Christian Formation

We have a variety of Christian Formation opportunities for
Adults
Youth
Children

  • We consider Christian Formation to be the lifelong journey of growing in faith. Through prayer, worship, study, fellowship, and mission we can experience spiritual growth in our lives.
  • We recognize that Christian Formation is the continual process that gives purpose and meaning to our lives as followers of Christ.  UUMC strives to offer opportunities for learning and growth and support for one another as we seek to be like Christ.
  • In addition to the age-specific opportunities below, we have events throughout the year for all ages, such as our Fall Fest and seasonal workshops, e.g., during Lent.

Adults

We recognize that our Christian faith journey continues throughout our lives. Our church offers adults a variety of opportunities for learning and growth.

Sunday Morning at 9:30 a.m.:

Chapel Class

The Chapel Sunday School Class is led by Mary Norman.  It meets in the chapel every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. except during the summer it meets at 8:30 a.m. Come grow in the knowledge of God and His will for you.  You don’t know what you are missing if you are not in a Sunday school class.  No one is too old to learn more.

Pastor’s Small Group Class

Pastor Sherri leads a small group class on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the parlor, except during the summer.

The Advent Study will continue our format of looking at current events and relate them to the Advent texts.

Advent 1 - Overcoming Oppression: Refugee Crisis/War - Luke 21:25-36

Advent 2 - Forgiving the Unforgivable: Prison Re-Entry - Luke 1:68-79

Advent 3 - Self Giving NOT Selfish Living: Common Good - Luke 3:7-18

Advent 4 - Stop Suffering: Homelessness and Hunger - Luke 1:46b -55

Youth Activities

United Methodist Youth Fellowship - Our young people in grades 6 through 12 get together for a range of activities that focus on:

faith + fellowship + fun!

Children

 Sunday School

Children’s Church

It is just as important for our young people to be living out our mission as it is for our adults; therefore, we are bringing back Children’s Church on the Second Sunday of each month.  After the passing of the peace, the children (ages 2 and up) will be dismissed to the chapel for Children’s Church.  This will be a time for the children to sing, learn Bible stories, and have crafts associated with the lesson for the day.  The children should be picked up from the chapel after worship.

 Nursery
The nursery is available for children who are potty-trained children up to 4 years of age.   Parents are welcome to take their children to a safe, loving environment while they worship.  Children must be signed in and out by their parent or authorized adult. The nursery is open from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
